STUDENTS MUST SCORE A 100 ON THE TEST IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN ARCHERY. SAFETY IS THE #1 PRIORITY.
THE ARCHERY TEAM IS SEPARATE FROM PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS. HOWEVER, WE DO TEACH ARCHERY AS A UNIT IN CLASS.
The U.A. Archery Team is open to all students who have a 2.5 GPA and a good discipline record, regardless of whether or not they take Physical Education as one of their classes. Try-outs will take place in November. Before that time, archery will be taught in the PE classes to acquaint first-time archers with the basics of shooting.
Non PE students will have to attend an after school safety class before being allowed to try out. Archers are not required to have their own bow, but of course the more any athlete practices, the better they become. The only bow allowed in NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) competition is the Original Genesis Bow. A local source of archery equipment is at Hal’s Gun Shop, owned and operated by Coach, Lamar Collins.
